The annual Asia House Literature Festival celebrates the diverse cultures of the asian continent through the power of books.  The festival featured are English-language fiction and non-fiction, covering a broad selection of Asian countries. The challenge was to create an identity visually representing all the eclectic range of cultures featured in the festival without showing any individual bias.

While researching the festival and the nations and regions represented, one thing thing became clear, they were all united in a rich display of beautiful and unique patterns at the heart of their culture

Taking these motifs as a start point, I combined patterns with initial cap letters, a decorative element in literature to graphic elements which marry western lettering with eastern aesthetics.

A campaign prompting audiences to discover the characters, in this case the authors, behind the books in the festival was run promoting the festival.

The brands logo is inspired by this ripple aesthetic. The mark combines a monogram G, a tree representing the eponymous Grove all housed within a wider circular device representing the world. All elemets are tied together with a single line representing Groveworlds seamless process.

While researching the festival and the nations and regions represented, one thing thing became clear, they were all united in a rich display of beautiful and unique patterns at the heart of their culture

To support the ripple graphic elements I also developed a system for writing topline messaging inspired by the theme of transformation

The lettering designs were also applied to a range of applications, including laser-cut woodblock for on-site interactive printing, speaker passes, tote bags and online events programmes.
