Cultural centre Asia House host the only annual festival dedicated exclusively to Asian Literature in the UK. They approached me to create a brand to apply to the festival’s identity and promotional materials.

The festival’s 26 day programme featured authors from across Asia, from the Persian Gulf to Japan. The challenge was to represent the diverse range of cultures and nationalities represented at the festival in a single visual identity.

To achieve this, I explored the dominant decorative motifs associated with each country and applied each pattern to 26 individually crafted letterforms. The bespoke letters were then combined to create diverse looking headings, or used singularly for a striking effect.
